Air Force Falls To Utah On Saturday

    SALT LAKE CITY - The Air Force baseball team dropped a 19-0 Mountain West Conference contest at Utah on Saturday at Franklin Covey Field. The Falcons fall to 9-15, 0-5 while the Utes improved to 10-12, 3-2.

    Already up 6-0 after three runs in the first and third innings, Utah blew the game wide open with a ten-run fourth inning. The Utes tacked on three more in the eighth and finished the day with 22 hits.

    The Falcons struggled offensively for the second-straight game, with only three hits on the day. Matt Alexander, Daniel Walker and Ben Ausbun had Air Force's three hits.

    Utah starter Brian Budrow (4-1) held the Falcons to one hit over six innings and struck out six. Reliever Geoff Wolframm pitched the remaining three innings to pick up the save.

    Air Force starter Brad Pingel (2-1) took the loss, allowing nine runs in three innings pitched. Alex Truesdale, Josh Meents and Jeff Abt also saw time on the mound for the Falcons.

    Austin Jones and Cooper Blanc had monster days for the Utes. Jones was 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Blanc was 3-for-5 with a homer, three runs and five RBI. Cody Guymon also homered for Utah.

    The Falcons and Utes wrap up the series tomorrow, March 30, at 1 p.m. with Utah.
