Air Force Drops 6-2 Ballgame at CSU Bakersfield Wednesday

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Air Force baseball lost to CSU Bakersfield, 6-2, Wednesday night at Hardt Field. The Falcons dropped to 6-17 while the Roadrunners improved to 8-15.

    CSUB jumped ahead 5-0 and never looked back. Runners starting pitcher Taylor Aikenhead (4-3) did not allow a hit in four predetermined innings to pick up the win.

    Falcon starting pitcher Todd Del Toro (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings pitched. Mike Kazakoff, Ben Yokley, Matt Zettler and Alex Baker pitched in relief for AFA.

    CSU Bakersfield scored two runs in the first and a third run in the third to jump ahead 3-0. The Roadrunners added two runs in the fourth. Air Force scored runs in the seventh and eighth innings, while CSUB added a run in the eighth.

    The Falcons had five hits in the game. Rightfielder Garrett Custons led the way, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Freshman Jake Sortor hit a double for his first-career base hit, in addition to scoring a run. Centerfielder Alex Bast had an RBI.

    Sorter led-off the seventh with a double and came around to score on catcher Brian Sicher's ground out. Custons scored the second run in the eighth on a groundout by Bast.

    Air Force returns to action Friday, March 30, at San Diego State.
