    SALT LAKE CITY - Stephen Fife tossed a one-hit shutout to lead Utah to a 6-0 win over Air Force in Mountain West Conference action Friday night at Franklin Covey Stadium. The Falcons are now 9-14, 0-4 (MWC) while Utah improves to 9-12, 2-2.

    Fife (3-2) struck out eight and walked just one batter in a game that took just one hour and 53 minutes to complete. Air Force shortstop K.J. Randhawa's single in the fourth inning was the lone blemish on Fife's night. Jon McMahon was the other Falcon to reach base with a walk.

    Falcon starter Colin Shepherd (1-1) did his best to keep the team in the game, pitching 6.1 innings and striking out four. Adam Teach relieved Shepherd in the seventh and did not allow a run in 1.2 innings pitched.

    Utah scored one run in the fourth and three in the fifth to make it a 4-0 game. The Utes scored two more in the seventh to put the game away.

    The Utes had 13 hits in the game. Cody Guymon led Utah with three base hits.

    Air Force and Utah return to action tomorrow, March 29, at 1 p.m., with game two of the three game series.
