Air Force Downed 4-1 Wednesday at Wichita State

    WICHITA, Kan. - Air Force baseball dropped a 4-1 ballgame at Wichita State Wednesday at Eck Stadium Wednesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Falcons to 8-15 and improved the Shockers to 14-11.

    Wichita State broke open a 1-1 tie with a three-run eighth inning to walk away with the win.

    Senior Alex Baker turned in another strong effort in the start for Air Force, allowing one unearned run in six innings pitched. Baker has now tossed 17.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.

    Wichita State scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning before the Falcons tied it up with a run in the sixth. Junior first baseman Seth Kline hit a sac fly-RBI to score junior centerfielder David Baska for the lone AFA run.

    Aaron LaBrie (2-0) picked up the win in relief for the Shockers. Starting pitcher Zach Beringer allowed one run in five innings pitched.

    Senior Jack Hourin (0-1) took the loss in relief for the Falcons. Freshman Bo Wilson also pitched in relief.

    Air Force had four hits in the game. Senior right fielder Garrett Custons, Kline, freshman designated hitter Peter Johnson and senior second baseman Matthew Roberts had base hits for the Falcons.

    Wichita State had eight hits in the game. Left fielder Joe Haddox had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Shockers.

    Air Force returns to action Friday at UNLV, beginning a three-game conference series.
