    SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped a 7-1 ballgame at Sacramento State Tuesday morning at John Smith Field. The Falcons dropped to 4-19 on the season, while the Hornets improved to 13-11.

    Sacramento State broke up a 1-1 tie ballgame with four runs in the fifth.

    Air Force had four hits in the game. Right fielder Coleman Poje had an RBI-double that scored left fielder Tyler Jones in the second inning. Spencer Draws, Jones and Adam Blankenship also had hits for the Falcons.

    Trent Monaghan (0-3) took the loss in relief for the Falcons. Starting pitcher Steven Trojan pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and one unearned run, while striking out four. Jacob DeVries and Nathan Stanford also pitched in relief.

    The Hornets had eight hits in the game. Center fielder David Del Grande's three-run homer keyed Sacramento State's fifth inning. Reliever Chad Perry (1-0) picked up the win. Starting pitcher Justin Dillon pitched three innings, striking out three.

    Sacramento State scored its first run in the first inning and added two runs in the seventh.

    Game two of the series is slated for tomorrow at 3 p.m. PST.
