Air Force Falls To Bucknell 5-1 Sunday At RussMatt Central Florida Invitational

    WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Air Force baseball dropped a 5-1 ballgame to Bucknell Sunday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Chain of Lakes Park. The Falcons fall to 6-9 on the season, while the Bison improved to 5-8.

    The Falcon bats continued to struggle with eight hits on the day, all singles.

    Falcon starter Ben Bertelson (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, in five innings. The sophomore left-hander struck out four. The Falcons used four relievers in the game. Mike Kazakoff, Kincaid Koehler, Alex Baker and Stephen Colangelo pitched in relief for AFA.

    Bucknell starting pitcher Trey Frahler (1-2) picked up the win with seven scoreless innings, while fanning seven. The Bison had 10 hits in the game. First baseman Doug Shribman led Bucknell, going 2-for-5 with a double and solo home run.

    Bucknell scored three in the third and single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. The Falcons got on the scoreboard in the ninth, as Carter singled in Seth Kline for their lone run.

    Carter, Catcher Garrett Custons and right fielder Jon McMahon led the Falcons with two base hits each.

    After 15 straight games on the road, the Falcons play their first home games on the season, Wed., March 16, hosting a doubleheader with Creighton.
