Air Force Falls To Cal State Bakersfield On Sunday, 12-4

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped a 12-4 ballgame at Cal State Bakersfield Sunday afternoon at Hardt Field. The loss dropped the Falcons to 0-4, while the Roadrunners improved to 4-0.
Cal State Bakersfield scored in five of the fist six innings to coast to the win. Starting pitcher Mike McCarthy (1-0) held Air Force to two runs in six innings, while striking out eight. The Roadrunners had 16 hits in the game, with Brandon Boren, Martin Medina and Joey Mills collecting three hits each.
Air Force had seven hits in the game. Junior centerfielder Nathan Carter continued his hot start to the season, leading the Falcons with a two hits, including a solo home run and three runs scored.
Air Force starter Alex Baker (0-1) was roughed in his collegiate debut, allowing eight runs in three innings pitched. Fellow freshman Stephen Colangelo also made his pitching debut, holding CSUB to one run in 3.1 innings of relief. Freshmen Jack Hourin and Ben Bertelson also pitched in relief.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Feb. 26, taking on Navy in a neutral-site series in Savannah, Ga.
