BATON ROUGE, La. - Air Force baseball dropped its second game on Sunday, 4-0, to #8 LSU this afternoon at LSU's Alex Box Stadium. The Falcons fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 3-0.

LSU scored three runs in the fourth inning to break-up a scoreless tie. The Tigers added a run in the eighth.

The Falcons struggled to figure out the Tigers' pitching, getting held to four hits in the game. Tiger starting pitcher Kurt McCune (1-0) earned the win, holding the Falcons to three hits, while striking out four in six scoreless innings pitched.

Air Force starting pitcher Michael Ceci (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs in four innings pitched. The Falcons got a strong outing in relief from junior Todd Del Toro. Del Toro held LSU scoreless from the fifth-through-seventh innings, eventually allowing a run in the eighth. Jack Hourin also pitched in relief, getting the last two outs in the eighth.

The Falcons made things interesting in the ninth, working the bases loaded and bringing the trying run to the plate. But LSU closer Nick Rumbelow got pinch-hitter David Thoms to fly out and end the game.

The Falcons four hits on the day came from Adam Hill, Garrett Custons, Patrick Lobo and freshman Noah Pierce, who had his first-career hit.

Earlier in the day, the Falcons defeated Alcorn State 6-1 for its first win of the season.

Air Force returns to action next weekend, Feb. 24-26, taking on service academy rival Navy at the Freedom Classic in Kinston, N.C.
