Freshman (2010): Led team with 26 appearances... appearances ranked fourth in the Mountain West Conference and is seventh all-time in a season at Air Force...struck out 24 in 36 innings pitched...had 14 appearances without allowing an earned run... made three starts...made debut vs. CSU Bakersfield...set career-high's with 4.2 innings pitched and five strikeouts in start vs. Creighton. Getting to know Ben: Hobbies: Being around the team and working out. Person in history you'd like to meet and why: Vince Lombardi, because I would love to pick his brain about leadership. Something not many people know about you: I'm ambidextrous. Who's had the biggest influence on your sports career and why: My Dad, he taught me to be tough and never quit or give in, as well as instilling in me a great work ethic and drive to be the best. Most noteworthy thing(s) about your hometown: I share a hometown with former President George W. Bush. Pregame rituals: Listen to relaxing music to calm myself down. Then I go compete. If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be? Man vs Wild. Bear Grylls... nuff said. What do you have on your iPod? A lot of country, some old school rock, and a little heavy metal . If you could trade places with one of your teammates for day, who would it be and why? I would trade places with Mike Kazakoff, to see what it's like to be the second manliest guy on the team. How did you spend your summer? I spent the first six weeks on Operations Air Force and playing baseball for the Marysville GoldSox, then came back to the Academy and was the Squadron Superindendent for F squadron. Favorite quote: "What I gave I have, What I didn't give I've lost forever." Why I came to the Academy: I came to the Academy because I wanted to embrace the challenge of being a cadet and in doing so become a part of something bigger than myself.
