Falcons Finish 14th at NCAA Championships
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Air Force men's cross country team concluded the 2004 season with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind. With 382 points, the Falcons matched their second-best team finish since 1967 (Air Force also finished 14th in 1991).
Senior co-captain Brian Dumm (Fairfax, Va.) was the top Falcon-finisher with an 81st-place finish at the national meet (242 runners) with a time of 32:25. Junior Jeff Gosselin (Cornelius, N.C.) was close on his heels with a time of 32:26 and an 85th-place finish.
Classmate Nick Wilson (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished 115th, with a time of 32:43, while senior Abe Wengel (Menomonie, Wis.) and junior Matt Hellier (Modesto, Calif.) placed 119th and 120th, respectively, with times of 32:47 and 32:48, to round out the scoring members of the Falcons' team.
Juniors Mark Walter (League City, Texas) and Kalib Wilkinson (Huntersville, N.C.) were the other two members of the Air Force contingent, finishing 161st and 207th. Walter clocked a time of 33:13, while Wilkinson recorded a time of 33:49.
