Air Force Cross Country to Compete in NCAA Pre-Nationals
Oct. 14, 2002 Oct. 17 -- Update: Air Force is seeded to race in the men's 8K White and the women's 6K White race. The men's race will start at 12:50, while the women's race will start at 11:35. The men's race will field 35 teams and the women's race will field 37 teams. Results will be available on-line after the race.
The Falcons will travel to Terra Haute, Ind., to compete in the 2002 NCAA Pre-Nationals. The women's 6K Blue and White races will start at 11:00 a.m. and 11:35 a.m., respectively. The men's 8K Blue and White races will begin at 12:10 and 12:50 p.m., respectively. In the Division I races, 97 women's and 91 men's teams will compete. Last year, the Falcons finished third in the men's 8K and 22nd in the women's 6K race. Chris Acs was the top AFA finisher with a time of 24:56, finishing 23rd. Brandess Pardue was the top AFA woman to finish 84th with a time of 22:54. Air Force will be racing against several Mountain Region opponents in the Pre- NCAAs. Brigham Young, Colorado, Montana and Montana State, New Mexico, Utah and Utah State, and Weber State will field teams in the men's and women's races. The Mountain Region championship is scheduled for Nov. 16 in Albuquerque, N.M. Following the regional championships, the NCAA Division I Championships will be held at Indiana State, Nov. 25. Brigham Young will host the Mountain West Conference Championships, Nov. 1 in Provo, Utah. The women's race is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. with the men's race to follow at 4:15 p.m.
