Josh van Wyngaarden Leads Air Force to Victory in Utah
Women's Recap - Air Force Women Take Second at Utah Fall Festival

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Junior Josh Van Wyngaarden led an impressive showing by the Air Force men's cross country team, as they won the Utah Fall Twilight Festival on Friday, Sept. 28 in Salt Lake City. With a time of 25:25, van Wyngaarden paced a Falcon contingent that saw four runners place within the top five. Senior Richard Elmore crossed the finish line in a time of 25:41 to place second, while sophomore Matt Williams placed fourth with a time of 25:40. Junior Ian McFarland finished fifth with a time of 25:46, while sophomore Sean Houseworth rounded out the Air Force scorers with a sixth-place time of 25:49. As a team, Air Force recorded a mere 18 points to significantly distance themselves from runner-up In addition to the top-six finishers, Air Force placed seven other athletes within the top-20. Junior Kenny Grosselin placed ninth (25:55), while sophomore Scott Balcao finished 11th with a time of 26:10. Senior Jason Beck (26:24), sophomore Parker Cowles (26:26) and classmate Sebastian Ortiz (26:31) crossed the finish line in a row, claiming the 13th-15th positions. Fellow sophomore Justin Mason posted a 17th-place time of 26:51, while freshman Thomas Richter placed 19th in 25:38. In addition, freshman Zach Nordahl (27:18), sophomore Daniel Castle (27:23) and freshman Austin Fritzke (27:29) placed 23rd, 25th and 26th. Sophomore Kyle Jones (28th-36) also finished within the top-30. Sophomore Joe Curran clocked a time of 27:45 to finish in the top-30. A trio of freshman - Ryan Workman (27:58), Arthur Grijalva (29:27) and Andy Schweitzer (29:49) rounded out the Air Force contingent in Air Force resumes action next Saturday (Oct. 7), as it travels to Hays,
