Former Falcons Finish Strong at Air Force Half Marathon

WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB, Ohio - Several former members of the Air Force cross country team wrapped up competition at the Air Force Half Marathon this morning (Sept. 17), which was contested at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. The former Falcons accounted for three of the top five finishes in the men's race, as well as a pair of top-seven finishes in the women's event. In the men's race, Capt Brian Dumm (Class of 2005) clocked a time of 1:13:39 to place third in the 2,108-man race. Dumm, last year's champion in the full marathon, placed second in his age group. 2Lt Andy Schweitzer, a 2010 USAFA graduate, finished fourth overall in 1:13:59 to win the men's 20-24 age division. 1Lt Brad Chronister, a 2009 graduate who competed for the Falcons as a senior, placed fifth overall and third in his age group with a time of 1:15:59. 1Lt Justin Mason, a member of the Class of 2009, finished 21st overall and seventh in his age group with a time of 1:19:15. On the women's side, Capt Elissa Ballas (Class of 2003) finished fifth overall in the women's race, which featured 2,539 competitors, while taking second in her age division with a time of 1:22:06. 2Lt Katherine Ward, a 2011 graduate, won her age division and placed seventh overall with a half marathon time of 1:22:27.
