NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Air Force men's cross country received votes in the 2014 preseason coaches' poll, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association recently announced. It is the second straight season that the Falcons have been mentioned in the preseason national poll.

The men, under the direction of first-year head coach Ryan Cole, return three runners from last season's squad that finished 20th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, including junior Patrick Corona, senior Zach Perkins and classmate Riley Coates. With 10 points, Air Force is tied with Butler for second in the "Receiving Votes" category and 32nd overall.

In the preseason standings of the USTFCCCA Mountain Region, which were released earlier this week, Air Force was projected sixth in both the men's and women's fields.

Air Force opens the season next Friday (Sept. 5), when it travels to Fresno, Calif., for the Fresno State Invitational.
