USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Backed by eight competitions, the Air Force cross country team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2014 season this afternoon. Under the direction of first-year head coach Ryan Cole, the Falcons will compete in five regular season meets, as they prepare for the conference, regional and national championships.
The Falcons open the current campaign on Friday, Sept. 5, when they travel to Fresno, Calif., for the Fresno State Invitational. After a one-year absence, Air Force returns to Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Sept. 20, for the 25th-annual Woody Greeno Invitational.
Air Force opens the second month of the season at a pair of competitions, as the squad splits for the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. (Friday, Oct. 3) and the 29th-annual Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colo. (Saturday, Oct. 4). The Falcons will also close out the regular season in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they compete at the Pre-National Invitational.
The championship season begins for the Falcons on Friday, Oct. 31, when they return to Fresno, Calif., for the 2014 Mountain West Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park. The Falcons will then travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Friday, Nov. 14, while the top teams and individuals from the regional site will advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute.
