COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Air Force cross country team placed 15 of its members on the Mountain West Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announce this afternoon (Jan. 26). The squad, represented by seven men and eight women, collected the most honors of any fall sport at the Academy during the recent 2011 season.
Senior Katie Carroll made her fourth appearance on the academic all-conference list, becoming just the sixth Falcon in program history to earn academic all-conference honors all four years.
Juniors Jen Bremser, Jeremy Drenckhahn, Kate Kanetzky, Gage Owens and Andrew Quallio all made their third appearance on the academic all-conference team, while classmates Ted Artz and Matt Bell earned their second selection.
Air Force had 36 cadet-athletes collect academic all-conference honors during the fall semester, which includes men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
