FRESHMAN (2008): Earned the team's Rookie of the Year award...competed in the first three meets of the season...opened the season with a 16th-place finish at the 4.25-mile Wyoming Invitational (23:23)...clocked an 8K time of 26:53 at the Aztec Invitational to finish 89th...finished 34th at the Rocky Mountain Shootout behind a time of 27:11...also competed in the USA Cross Country Championships (Junior Division)...placed 19th at that meet with a season-best time of 25:36.

HIGH SCHOOL: Horizon High School...2007 Footlocker National Finalist (23rd)...Arizona 5AD2 individual cross country champion as a senior...also won the Mt. SAC SuperSweeps and the Doug Conley Invitational cross country titles in 2007...finished second at the Arizona 5AD1 state meet as a junior...member of two teams that finished second at the Arizona 5AD2 state meets in 2006 and 2007...team also finished second at the 2006 Doug Conley Invitational...earned multiple regional and district titles...won the 1600-meter run at the state track and field championships as a senior...was a member of the Arizona 5AD2 championship team in 2008...clocked personal-best times of 4:17 in the 1600-meter run and 9:13 in the 3200-meter run...also lettered two years in soccer...member of the National Honor Society...two-time French Honorary...four-year member of the Society of Gentlemen Scholars.

PERSONAL: Son of Harry and Joan Walmsley...goes by Jim...has a twin brother, Wil, who is on the rugby team at Arizona State University...also has a sister, Kim, that attends the University of Arizona...majoring in biology...future plans include attending dental school...hobbies include rock climbing, bowling and basketball...finished sixth in 5000-meter run at the 2009 U.S. Junior National Championships...member of Cadet Squadron 07.
