Air Force places 29 on the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete team

The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference

FRESHMAN (2012): Competed in two meets...clocked an 8K time of 29:27.0 to finish 59th at the Metro State Invitational...opened the season with a 65th-place time of 17:59.8 (5K) at the Colorado State Open.

HIGH SCHOOL: Alamogordo High School...placed second in the 800-meter run at the state championships as a senior...also finished third in the 1600-meter run... district champion in both the 800- and 1600-meter events...member of three district championship teams...also competed in soccer...all-district honorable mention selection (2010-11)...three-time Golden Scholar, for those with a GPA above 3.75...member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: Full name is Stone Eisenhower Shoaf...nickname is "Ike"...son of Thomas and Kristi Shoaf...father was a career fighter pilot in the Air Force and now flies as a civil service test pilot...has a twin brother, Steel, who also attends the Academy and is a hurdler for the track and field team...majoring in biology...also earning a minor in German...future career plans include becoming a fighter pilot or working in the biology field...named to the Superintendent's List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...once met President Barack Obama, who said "he likes my name"...completed soaring and survival training over the summer...hobbies include soccer, reading and hanging out with friends...member of Cadet Squadron 11.
