SOPHOMORE (2008): Participated in four meets for Air Force...opened the season at the 4.25-mile Wyoming Invitational, clocking a 24:29 to finish 28th...registered a season-best 8K time of 26:56 at the Fort Hays Invitational (31st)...ran the Rocky Mountain Shootout in 28:42 to finish 72nd...placed 11th at the Air Force Open with a time of 28:47...academic all-conference selection...named to the MWC Scholar-Athlete list.

FRESHMAN (2007): Competed in two meets for the Falcons...finished 20th at the Air Force Open with a time of 29:10...opened the season with a 4.25-mile time of 26:06 at the Wyoming Invitational to finish 56th...MWC Scholar-Athlete.

HIGH SCHOOL: Mercersburg Academy...first-team all-league (Mid-Atlantic Prep league) selection in cross country as a junior and senior...won the 3200-meter event at the state Independent Prep League meet as a senior...named most outstanding runner...set personal-best times of 4:32 in the 1600-meter run and 9:50 in the 3200-meter run...also lettered in soccer as a sophomore...graduated Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.

PERSONAL: Full name is Tyler William Small...nickname is "Biggie Smalls"...son of Craig and Erika Small...has one older brother, Todd, who is a 2008 graduate of the Academy...also has one younger sister, Sarah...majoring in physics...future plans include becoming a pilot...has served as Academy Officer, Element Leader, Element NCO, Support Clerk and Athletic NCO...member of the "500 Club"...received the Superintendent's Pin for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...hobbies include unicycling and snowboarding...spent the summer at Edwards AFB, Calif., conducting research on plasma thrusters...academic all-conference selection for track...member of Cadet Squadron 20.
