SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2013: Competed in the first three meets of the season...clocked a career-best 8K time of 25:59.40 to finish 67th at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open...earned a top-50 finish at the Rocky Mountain Open (28:06.00)...opened the season with a 5K time of 16:07.60 at the Colorado State Open...academic all-conference selection.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2012: Participated in three meets...opened the season at the Colorado State Open, clocking a 5K time of 17:19.7 (55th)...clocked matching 8K times of 28:40 at the Rocky Mountain Shootout (99th) and Metro State Invitational (38th).
HIGH SCHOOL: Kingwood High School...served as team captain...received the Coaches' Award...member of the National Honor Society...served as treasurer...vice-president of the Key Club...named to the Honor Roll.
PERSONAL: Full name is Daniel Garrett Shellhouse...nickname is "Franklin"...son of Glenn and Natalie Shellhouse...father was a captain in the Air Force...has one older brother, Grant...majoring in humanities...future plans include becoming a "pilot scientist and flying all the latest scientific flying machines"...served as Group Safety NCO and as the junior (C2C) cadet-in-charge of intercollegiate cross country during the first session of Basic Cadet Training...named to the Dean's List and Athletic Director's List...has also won Mitch's three or four times over the past two years ("even though it doesn't seem like it's a lot, most people haven't done it at all")...hobbies include badminton, kite flying, cloud watching, amateur handwriting analysis and conducting scientific experiments...also "studying to get an associate's degree in smoothies"...favorite quote is by Demetri Martin: 'the problem with my balloon collection is that people always think there's a party - settle down - it's not a party - it's just balloons'...spent the summer doing science, visiting beaches, playing catch, grilling and King Chef...member of Cadet Squadron 29.
