SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2013: Competed in two 8K races...clocked a career-best time of 25:50.40 to finish 57th at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open...also competed at the Rocky Mountain Shootout, finishing 60th in 28:20.00...academic all-conference selection...Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2012: Participated in three races...clocked a season-opening 5K time of 16:52.3 to finish 48th at the Colorado State Open...also competed in 8K races at the Rocky Mountain Shootout (29:09.0, 118th) and Metro State Invitational (28:21.0, 32nd)...academic all-conference selection...Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
HIGH SCHOOL: La Cueva High School...earned all-state honors in the 1600-meter run...first-team all-district selection in both cross country and track...earned academic all-district honors in cross country...named the La Cueva Scholar-Athlete of the Year...AP Scholar.
PERSONAL: Full name is Sean Michael Bapty...nickname is "Needle"...son of Alex and Susan Bapty...father is a 1984 graduate of the Air Force Academy...has one older sister, Samantha...majoring in electrical engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as First Sergeant...named to the Superintendent's List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...hobbies include sailing, Frisbee and movies...traveled to Morocco over the summer as a part of the Cadet Summer Language Immersion Program...also completed Operation Air Force and served on cadre for Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET)...member of Cadet Squadron 09.
