Air Force Places 16 on Academic All-Conference List

A program-record five Falcons earned their fourth straight academic all-conference honor.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2013: Did not compete in any meets.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2012: Competed in four meets...clocked a season-best 8K time of 25:40.3 at the Rim Rock Classic (71st)...placed 10th at the Metro State Invitational with a time of 27:05.0...also competed at the Woody Greeno Invitational, finishing 48th with a time of 26:28.2...opened the season at the Colorado State Open, finishing 41st in the 5K race with a time of 16:41.6...academic all-conference selection.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rancho Bernardo High School...finished second in the 1600-meter run at the Mt. Carmel/Asics Invitational as a senior...clocked a personal-best time of 4:13 at that meet...recorded additional career-best times of 51.2 (400m), 1:54 (800m), 4:16 (mile), 9:40 (3200) and 15:43 (5K) captain of the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team, signifying selection as the boys' cross country Student-Athlete of the Year...North County Times Scholar-Athlete of the Year...Rancho Bernardo High School's Scholar-Athlete.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kevin Paxton Mihalik...nickname is "Hollywood"...son of Gary and Mary Mihalik...father served as an enlisted man in the Coast Guard, where he worked in Fire Control...has two older brothers, Jeffrey and Jarred, who went to Cornell and Princeton, respectively...majoring in military strategic studies...future career plans include becoming a pilot...currently serving as First Sergeant...also served as Element Leader during Basic Cadet Training...hobbies include reading, sleeping and movies...self-proclaimed Trekkie...flew solo in a Cessna from San Diego to North LA and back...favorite music artists are Train, Rob Thomas and Linkin Park...completed Operation Air Force over the summer at Andrews Joint Base in Washington DC...member of Cadet Squadron 13.
