    FRESHMAN (2011): Competed in four competitions...opened the season at the Rust Buster Invitational, placing 29th with a 4K time of 15:52...ran a 5K time of 18:58 to place 14th at the Fort Hays State Tiger Invitational...clocked a 5.8K time of 24:43 to place 40th at the Rocky Mountain Shootout...competed at the Woody Greeno Invitational, recording a time of 23:41 to finish 81st in the 6K race...academic all-conference selection...Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Archbishop Alter High School...member of three state championship teams (2007 cross country, 2009 4x800-meter relay, 2011 4x800-meter relay)...four-time state qualifier in the 800-meter run...placed within the top-10 at the state meet all four years (fourth in 2009, seventh in 2010, eighth in 2008 and ninth in 2011)...served as co-captain of the 2010 cross country team...earned academic all-Ohio recognition for cross country...also earned academic all-state honors in track...two-time recipient of the Coaches' Award for cross country...earned the 2011 Coaches' Award for track...class valedictorian...received numerous department awards...received Scholar-Athlete honors from the Girls Greater Cincinnati League...AP Scholar.

    PERSONAL: Full name is Rebecca Ann Esselstein...nicknames are "Becca" or "Reebs"...daughter of Brian and Lisa Esselstein...has one older brother, Matt, and two older sisters, Katie and Hilary...also has one younger brother, Andrew...majoring in astronautical engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot and ultimately, an astronaut...served as a CFC worker...received jump wings...spent the summer completing Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training and the Jump program ("coolest thing I've done at USAFA")...also served as a bridesmaid in sister's wedding... hobbies include drawing, watching movies and playing Minesweeper on the computer...also enjoys playing laser tag...has one cousin in the Air Force Reserves and several uncles that are retired from the Air Force...member of Cadet Squadron 19.
