NEW ORLEANS, La. - Air Force pole vaulter Kimber Shealy was named to the Women's Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team, announced this morning (July 13) by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). She is the first female Falcon to earn the association's top academic honor since 2006.

Shealy was one of a record 531 student-athletes from 146 Division I programs to earn all-academic honors. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.25 or higher and have met either the NCAA Division I indoor automatic qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective events.

A rising sophomore from Kennesaw, Ga., Shealy finished her initial season at the Academy with a 3.51 GPA (undeclared). She was a regional qualifier in the pole vault, after accounting for a clearance of 12'7½" at the Beach Invitational. That mark is tied for the second-best vault in Academy history. In addition, she picked up all-conference accolades at the MWC outdoor championship meet, following a third-place finish.
