Current and former members of the Air Force track and field team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 23-27. Six current and former Falcons, as well as a pair of volunteer coaches, will compete at Drake Stadium. The five-day senior-level meet will run in conjunction with the junior national championship meet.
WHO TO WATCH FOR
Air Force will be represented by 2010 freshman Michael Tibbs (junior decathlon) and senior Sara Neubauer (shot put). Former Falcon standouts include Dan Castle (1500-meter run), Sean Houseworth (10,000-meter run), Matt Williams (3000-meter steeplechase) and Dana Pounds-Lyon (javelin throw). In addition, volunteer coaches Nate Garcia and Jenny Barringer have also qualified for the national meet.
Action begins at 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 23, and continues through Sunday, June 27. The five-day meet will be held at Drake Stadium, home of the annual Drake Relays. ESPN will air the USATF Championships on June 25 (8-10 p.m.), June 26 (1-2:30 p.m.) and June 27 (1-2:30 p.m.), while NBC will air footage from 3-4 p.m. on June 26 and June 27. All times are Eastern.
