LAS VEGAS, Nev. - After leading the Falcons to their second straight outdoor conference title, Air Force track and field head coach Ralph Lindeman was selected by his peers as the Mountain West Men's Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the MW Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
Under the direction of Lindeman and his coaching staff, the men easily defended their conference title on Saturday, May 11, as they bettered the field by 45 points and saw every member of the 28-man travel party score at least one of the team's 210 total points. Air Force collected three individual event titles, 11 runner-up placements and eight third-place finishes.
It is the fourth outdoor coaching award for Lindeman, who also claimed the honor in 2001, 2003 and 2012. The Falcons' mentor has also earned the MW Indoor Coach of the Year award on five occasions (2001, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2012), as well as awards as the WAC Indoor Coach of the Year (1995) and the WAC Cross Country Coach of the Year (1991). He was also honored as the 1989 Big West Coach of the Year while at Long Beach State.
With its back-to-back titles at the MW Outdoor Championships, the track and field team has now claimed three of the five conference titles held by all Academy sports, joining the 2003 cross country team and the 2004 men's basketball team.
