USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - After leading the Falcons to their first outdoor title, Air Force track and field head coach Ralph Lindeman was selected by his peers as the Mountain West Men's Coach of the Year following the conference championships at the Academy's Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

Under Lindeman's direction, the men easily claimed their first MW Outdoor Championship on Saturday, May 12, bettering the field by over 30 points. The men captured a program-record seven conference titles, breaking the previous mark of six that they set during the 2012 indoor championships.

It is the third outdoor award for Lindeman, who also claimed the honor in 2001 and 2003. The Falcons' mentor has also earned the MW Indoor Coach of the Year award on five occasions (2001, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2012), as well as awards as the WAC Indoor Coach of the Year (1995) and the WAC Cross Country Coach of the Year (1991). Lindeman was also honored as the 1989 Big West Coach of the Year while at Long Beach State.

Air Force's men swept the Mountain West track and field titles this season, winning its first indoor and outdoor championships in 2012. This season, the men have doubled the Academy's total number of Mountain West titles. The men's indoor and outdoor squads join the 2003 men's cross country team and the 2004 men's basketball team.
