WALNUT Calif. - Senior Matt Bell clocked the ninth-fastest 5000-meter time in Academy history, as three members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up the second day of competition during the 5K Showcase at the 55th-annual Mt. SAC Relays late Friday (April 19) in Walnut, Calif.
Competing in the "A" section of the eight 5000-meter events that took place under the lights at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, Bell crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 14:06.41. Deleting 30 seconds from his previous best time, Bell finished 12th among the 44 runners in that section and debuted in ninth on the program's all-time list.
Sophomore Elliot Myers and freshman Kevin Mihalik also competed in the 5000-meter run tonight, taking part in the event's 36-competitor "B" section. Myers cut over 20 seconds from his previous best time to finish to finish eighth in a time of 14:16.63, while Mihalik finished 26th in his collegiate debut at that distance with a time of 14:41.01.
