COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force senior thrower Brian Fordwas named the Mountain West Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today (March 19). It is the first such award for the Alamosa, Colo., native.
Ford was the top collegiate finisher in the hammer throw (third overall) at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder on March 15. Ford recorded a career-best distance of 191'0½" in the outdoor opener ... a mark that bettered his previous-best throw by over 20 feet ... to move into sixth on the program's all-time list. Ford is currently ranked first in the conference and 22nd in the nation this season.
The senior shared the conference's first award of the outdoor season with Nevada's Deborah Amoah, who was selected as the MW Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
The Falcons travel to Tempe, Ariz., this weekend (March 22-23) for the Arizona State Invitational.
