Falcons Open Outdoor Season at Colorado

The Air Force track and field team opens the 2013 outdoor season this weekend (March 15-16) at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colo. The two-day meet begins Friday, March 15, with the hammer and javelin throw at Potts Field, while the rest of the events will take place on Saturday, March 16.

MEET INFORMATION
The Jerry Quiller Classic (formerly known as the Potts Outdoor Invitational) will be held at Potts Field, which is located at the intersection of Discovery Drive and Innovation Drive on Colorado's east campus. The hammer throw and javelin will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, March 15, while the remaining field events and all throwing events will take start at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 16. SATURDAY'S SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
11:00 a.m.: Men's Shot Put, Women's Shot Put; 11:00 a.m.: Women's Discus Throw, Men's Discus Throw; 11:00 a.m.: Women's Pole Vault, Men's Pole Vault; 11:00 a.m.: Women's Long Jump, Men's Long Jump, Women's Triple Jump, Men's Triple Jump; 11:00 a.m.: Women's High Jump, Men's High Jump; 11:00 a.m.: 3000-Meter Steeplechase, 4x100-Meter Relay, 1500-Meter Run, 100-/110-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 100-Meter Dash, 800-Meter Run, 400-Meter Hurdles, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run, 4x400-Meter Relay (women will compete first in all running events)

WHO'S BACK FOR THE INDOOR SEASON
The Falcons' outdoor roster includes one All-American (Cale Simmons, pole vault), four Mountain West champions (Alex Lindsay, 800-meter run; Morgan Mosby, 1500-meter run; Simmons, pole vault; Zach Wood, high jump), two members of the winning 4x400-meter relay team (Anthony Delgado, Jake Spuller), nine additional all-conference selections (Kassie Gurnell, triple jump; Nikki Freeman, javelin; Melissa Fuerst, 1500-meter run; Zach Perkins, 1500-meter run; Kobi Rex, high jump; Cort Rogers, pole vault; Michael Tibbs, decathlon; Uzor Udensi, 4x400-meter relay; Tim Urista, javelin) and four Academy record holders (Jen Bremser, 3000-meter steeplechase; Gurnell, triple jump; Mosby, 1500-meter run; Simmons, pole vault).

LEADING THE WAY
Seven seniors will serve as team captains of the 2012-13 Air Force track and field team. Sprinter Anthony Delgado, manager Riley Feeney, distance runner Andrew Quallio and pole vault Cale Simmons were chosen by their teammates as captains for the men's team, while sprinter Bethany Gross, middle distance runner Morgan Mosby and combined-events athlete Lesly Torres were selected to serve the women's team.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Falcons will host four competitions at the Cadet Outdoor Track Complex. The squad will host its second-annual Outdoor Combined Events Meet and Air Force Relays over the April 4-6 weekend. The Falcons will also host New Mexico and Northern Colorado on April 12, before closing out the season with the Air Force Twilight Open on May 3.

WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force will travel to Tempe, Ariz., for the Arizona State Invitational on March 22-23.
