    DRENCKHAHN EARNS CONFERENCE AWARD
Jeremy Drenckhahn was named the Mountain West Athlete of the Week following a stellar weekend in Nebraska. Drenckhahn bettered the field by nearly 21 seconds to easily win the 5000-meter event at the adidas Classic on Jan. 21 - one day after earning the top collegiate spot in the 3000-meter run (8:18.18) at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational. Drenckhahn is currently ranked first in the conference and eighth in the nation in the 5000-meter run, while holding the conference's second-fastest time in the 3000-meter run.

    DID YOU KNOW?
By claiming the Jan. 24 MW Athlete of the Week award, Jeremy Drenckhahn became the first Air Force runner to earn the weekly indoor honor since hurdler Sean Temple in 2004, as the last eight selections have come from field athletes. In fact, he is only the third runner ever to be selected by the conference during the indoor season.

    A FAMILY AFFAIR
The men's 2012 team boasts three sets of brothers - including two sets of twins. Air Force's sibling connection includes the Owens (Gage and Gavin), the Perkins (twins Charlie and Zach) and the Simmons (twins Cale and Rob).

    LOCAL FLAVOR
The Falcons have 15 athletes that hail from the state of Colorado, including five - junior Jen Bremser (Sand Creek HS), freshman Kobi Rex (Lewis Palmer HS), senior Rachel Thomas (Falcon HS), sophomore Libby Westfall (Pine Creek HS) and senior Nick White (Falcon HS) - that are from the Colorado Springs area.

    GOING THE DISTANCE
Air Force claimed event titles in the two longest distances of the adidas Classic, as Jim Walmsley and Jeremy Drenckhahn won the 3000-meter and 5000-meter races, respectively. Walmsley clocked a time of 8:13.65 to win the 3000-meter run by three seconds, while Drenckhahn crossed the finish line of the 5000-meter run in 14:26.40 to better the field by 21 seconds.

    MOVING ON UP
With a distance of 57'9¾", Paige Blackburn recorded the second-best weight throw mark in Academy history on Jan. 21. Blackburn, who finished second at the adidas Classic, improved her career-best distance in that event by nearly two feet.

    RECORD BOOK REWRITES
The men's weight throw also received a rewrite at the adidas Classic, as Brian Ford moved into ninth on the all-time list with a throw of 55'4¾". On the women's side, Rachel Herald moved into a tie for ninth in the high jump (5'6"), while Annette Eichenberger debuted on the 800-meter list with the 10th-fastest time in Academy history (2:16.59).

    I'LL TAKE FIRST
Air Force claimed five first-place finishes at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational, including sweeps of the 400-meter dash and 600-meter run titles. Manny Smith and Bethany Gross won the 400-meter titles of their respective races, while Alex Lindsay and Tasha Mayne teamed up for the Falcons' sweep of the 600-meter run. Morgan Mosby rounded out the event winners with a first-place finish in the 1000-meter run.

    WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force heads back out on the road next weekend, traveling to Albuquerque, N.M., for the New Mexico Classic on Feb. 3-4 at the ABQ Convention Center - the site of the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships.
