WALNUT Calif. - Five members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the 55th-annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Saturday, April 20. One pole vaulter and four members of a relay squad earned top-10 finishes in their respective events during the "invitational" portion of the meet at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Clearing a height of 17'0¾", senior Cale Simmons finished ninth overall in the "elite" field of the pole vault (fourth among collegiate vaulters). Simmons was one of two Air Force All-Americans to compete in the pole vault this afternoon, as 2010 graduate Nick Frawley placed seventh with a height of 17'6½".
Senior Uzor Udensi, senior Anthony Delgado, sophomore Jake Spuller and junior David Ptacek finished second in the "Olympic Development Elite" division of the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet, which won the same relay at the Beach Invitational earlier in the day, clocked their second-fastest time of the season (40.80) to finish second this afternoon.
The Falcons return to action over the April 26-27 weekend, splitting squads for the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa) and Jack Christiansen Invitational (Fort Collins, Colo.)
