AZUSA, Calif. - Injury forced Air Force junior Evan McDowell (decathlon) and freshman Alexa Chacon (heptathlon) from the second day of competition at the Mt. SAC/California Invitational Multi-Events Meet in Azusa, Calif., on Thursday, April 17.

McDowell, who opened the day with an eighth-place 110-meter hurdles time of 15.17, suffered an injury during the second event of the day (discus throw) that forced him to withdraw from competition. Chacon had a strong start to the day, finishing seventh in her flight (38th overall) in the long jump (16'0½") and second in her flight (16th overall) in the javelin throw (100'11") before injury caused her to miss the day's final event (800-meter run).

The rest of the Air Force track and field team will join the pair in California for three meets over the next three days, including the 56th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut (April 17-19), the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa (April 18) and the Beach Invitational in Norwalk (April 19).
