STANFORD, Calif. - Highlighted by three additions to the Academy's all-time list, several members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the 39th Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 4. The Falcons' distance and middle distance runners tallied a pair of top-10 marks on the women's side, as well as one all-time incursion on the men's side.
Senior Annette Eichenberger recorded the second-fastest 1500-meter time in Academy history (4:23.28) during a runner-up performance in her section of that distance, while Hannah Everson debuted in sixth on the program's all-time list for the 5000-meter run with a Sophomore Class Record time of 17:05.91 (14th). Senior Gavin Owens added his name to the men's all-time list in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as he clocked the sixth-fastest time in program history (8:57.31) to finish sixth in the race.
Junior Zach Perkins, freshman Matt Dorsey and senior Alex Lindsay earned top-10 times in their respective sections of the 1500-meter run at Cobb Track. Perkins, competing in the fastest section of runners, finished sixth with a season-debut of 3:44.43 - a mark less than a second shy of the program's class record. Dorsey finished eighth in his race with a time of 3:51.32, while Lindsay clocked 3:53.94 to finish fifth in his section.
Junior Taylor Drolshagen and senior Isaiah Bragg also accounted for top-10 finishes. Drolshagen finished ninth in her section of the 1500-meter run behind a season-debut time of 4:39.84, while Bragg subtracted 30 seconds from his career time in the 5000-meter run to earn the same placement in 14:07.49.
Sophomore Patrick Corona ran in the same 5000-meter section as Bragg, clocking a debut time of 14:13.42 to take 13th. Senior Jake Hawkins finished 20th in his 5K race with a debut time of 14:23.97, while junior Riley Coates deleted nearly a minute from his career time (14:30.79) to finish 17th. Senior Matthieu Caldwell suffered a fall during his 1500-meter race, but finished 11th with a time of 4:13.71.
While the Falcons concluded action at Stanford tonight, the rest of the squad kicks off competition tomorrow (Saturday, April 5) with the Air Force Relays, which will be held at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex beginning at 10 a.m.
