FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Junior Sara Neubauer set two personal-best marks, as several the Air Force throwers took part in the first day of action at the Tom Benich Classic on Friday, April 3, in Fort Collins, Colo. In all, eight Falcons competed in the hammer throw, while Neubauer and senior Kirk Devine participated in the invitational section of the discus throw.

Neubauer won the eight-member discus throw invitational, with a career-best toss of 170'10". It is the third-straight week that the junior has reset her personal-best score, increasing it 10 feet since the season began on March 20. It is the third straight week that she has recorded a regional qualifying mark, while she continues closer to the Academy record of 177'3".

Devine finished fifth in the men's discus with a throw of 161'8".

Neubauer also continued to improve in the hammer throw, as she upped her personal-best distance to 160'8". While finishing seventh overall, Neubauer moved into seventh on the program's all-time list. Since debuting in the hammer at the start of the season, she has upped her distance by nearly 30 feet.

Senior David Nan rounded out the top-10 finishers with a ninth-place distance of 163'6". Like Jansson, senior Ian Hurdle (143'1") and freshman Sean Herbison (105'5") made their seasonal debuts.

With the cancellation of the rest of the Tom Benich Class due to the inclement weather heading toward the Front Range, the Falcons will be off until next Saturday (April 11). Part of the squad will travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Tom Botts Invitational, while the rest will head to Boulder, Colo., for the annual Colorado Invitational. However, junior Nick Frawley will compete tomorrow (April 4) in the pole vault at the prestigious Texas Relays.
