AUSTIN, Texas - Members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this evening (March 28) in Austin Texas. The Falcons were represented by two relays and three field event athletes at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Junior Joey Uhle picked up the Falcons' best finish, as he tied for fifth in the 15-competitor "Invitational" section of the pole vault, following a season-best clearance of 17'6½". Clearing on his first attempt, he tied with Kansas State's Kyle Wait as the pair recorded matching marks throughout the competition.
Sophomore Grant Hamilton finished 11th in the "B" section of the shot put with a toss of 50'3½", while senior Kassie Gurnell earned a 14th-place finish of 39'10¾" in the "A" section of the triple jump.
On the track, the quartet of freshman Zach Johnson, classmate Chandler Myers, senior Josh Nielsen and junior Jake Spuller finished 32nd in the qualifying heat of the 4x100-meter relay. Joined by seniors Michael Craig and David Ptacek, Nielsen and Spuller also ran the 4x400-meter relay that claimed the same placement in a time of 3:15.66.
