AUSTIN, Texas - Texas native Dylan Bell posted a career-best clearance of 16'7¼" in the pole vault during the first day of competition for the Air Force track and field team at the 86th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, March 28.
Competing at Mike A. Myers Stadium - a location just over two hours from his hometown of Alvarado - Bell improved his outdoor-best height by over one foot. After passing on the opening height of 16'1¼", the freshman successfully cleared the 16'7¼" bar on his second attempt. Bell, who finished 21st overall in the B-section of the Relays' pole vault competition, tied for the fourth-best clearance of the day.
The Falcons continue action at the Texas Relays tomorrow (Friday, March 29), while others open competition at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., and at various spring break competitions around the country.
