SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Air Force men's 4x400-meter relay reset the Academy standard for the second straight week, as six members of the Falcons' track and field team wrapped up competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, March 3, in South Bend, Ind.

The squad of senior Manny Smith, junior Anthony Delgado, freshman Jake Spuller and senior Bryce Bergman, who shattered the old program standard by one second last weekend at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, clocked a new Academy-record time of 3:10.52 this afternoon to reset their own mark and finish ninth at the meet.

Over the past two weeks, Smith, Delgado, Spuller and Bergman have clocked two times that bettered the previous program mark, which had stood for 35 years.

Senior Jim Walmsley clocked a season-best time of 8:04.48 in the 3000-meter run. Walmsley, who ran the anchor leg of the distance medley relay team that clocked the second-fastest time in program history last night, placed third among collegiate runners and fourth overall.

Classmate Kimber Shealy also picked up a fourth-place finish, recording a clearance of 13'5". That mark, just three-quarters of an inch off of her personal best that was set last week, was tied for the second-highest bar of the day (overall placement was determined by attempts).

The indoor season concludes next weekend with the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day meet will take place at Jackson Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho.
