Women's DMR Shatter Academy Record at Alex Wilson Invitational
March 2, 2013
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - With a time of 11:24.78, the Air Force women's distance medley relay team obliterated the Academy record, as members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up the indoor regular season at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
The quartet of senior Morgan Mosby, classmate Bethany Gross, junior Annette Eichenberger and senior Melissa Fuerst combined for a time that knocked nearly 25 seconds off of the previous Academy standard.
Air Force, which successfully defended its conference title last weekend, clocked the fourth-fastest time in Mountain West history to finish seventh in a deep DMR field that featured five of the top eight times in the nation this season.
Air Force only competed in one individual race on Saturday, as junior Alex Lindsay clocked an 800-meter time of 1:49.93 to move into fifth on the program's all-time list. His time, a seasonal improvement of nearly two seconds, was 16th overall in the 52-runner field.
The indoor season concludes next weekend (March 8-9) with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
