USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force sophomore Evan McDowell recorded the seventh-best heptathlon total in Academy history on Friday, Jan. 25, as multi-event action concluded during the morning session of the Air Force Invitational.

McDowell improved his overall total by 321 points to register a career-best total of 4,965 - the seventh-highest score in program history.

After recording three career-best scores during the first day of competition, McDowell added another pair of personal-best marks today, en route to the career-best heptathlon total. The sophomore opened the day with an 8.59 in the 60-meter hurdles, before adding one foot to his overall-best clearance in the pole vault (12'1½"). He shaved 11 seconds off of his time in the 1000-meter run (2:46.21) to finish second in that event and finish fourth in the 21-competitor field.
