Air Force Trio Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Kobi Rex became the first Falcon in program history to earn USTFCCCA academic honors all four years.


Over 40 Falcons Earn MW Academic Honors

The track and field team accounted for 41 of Air Force's 69 academic all-conference selections.


Ten Falcons Earn All-Conference Honors

Eight men and two women earned all-MW honors, following top-three finishes at the conference meet.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2013-14: Mountain West champion in the outdoor high jump...tied for the sixth-best indoor clearance in Academy history...all-conference selection...became the program's second conference champion in the outdoor high jump after clearing 6'8¾" to win the MW Championships...also collected first-place finishes at the Air Force Relays and Air Force Twilight Open...posted an outdoor-best height of 6'9" at the Jack Christiansen Invitational...debuted on the Academy's all-time list during the indoor season with a clearance of 6'9¾" at the Air Force All-Comers Meet...improved that height to 6'10¾" one week later during a runner-up performance at the Holiday Inn Invitational...that mark is tied for sixth on the program's all-time list...earned the team's Newcomer of the Week award twice during the indoor season...academic all-conference selection.

HIGH SCHOOL: Buchanan High School...earned two top-four finishes in the high jump at the CIF California State Championships (third as a senior, fourth as a junior)...cleared 6'10¼" as a senior...named Athlete of the Year...also played water polo...served as team captain...member of the team that won the Valley championship...winner of the Best Friends Award in the high school yearbook.

PERSONAL: Full name is Taylor Braxton Smith...nickname is "Daddy Longlegs"...son of Rich and Tracy Smith...has one older sister, Brianna...also has one older brother, Travis, a 2013 graduate of the Air Force Academy and all-conference high jumper for the Falcons' track and field team...earning a double-major in economics and management...future plans include "flying, fighting and winning"...served as B-2 Element NCO...named to the Dean's List...hobbies include skydiving and regular diving..."I am neither a dog or cat person; fish is where it's at"...completed AM-490 ("jumped out of planes") and Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training ("starved in the woods") over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 40.
