The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2014-15: Competed in the 1500-meter run during four outdoor meets...clocked a career-best time of 4:41.92 in the preliminary round of the Mountain West Championships... registered best finish of the season (third) at the Air Force Twilight Open (4:53.76, adjusted for altitude)...academic all-conference selection.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2013-14: Missed the majority of the season with a hamstring injury...competed in one meet...won the 3000-meter run at the Air Force Twilight Open with a time of 10:43.10 (adjusted for altitude)...MW Scholar-Athlete.

HIGH SCHOOL: Evergreen High School...Colorado 4A regional and league champion in 2012...four-time all-conference selection in the 5000-meter run (2009-12)...also earned all-conference honors in the 1600-meter run (three times), 3200-meter run (two times) and 800-meter run (two times)...member of five all-conference relay teams (4x800-meter relay, three times; 4x400-meter relay, two times)...also earned all-state honors on the 4x800-meter relay team in 2011 and 2012...named to the Gold Honor Roll all four years for maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or higher...four-time academic all-state honoree.

PERSONAL: Full name is Samantha Scott Skold...daughter of Doug and Chamane Skold...has a twin sister, Mackenzie ("she is my best friend, but we are complete opposites")...also has one older sister, Ashley, who is a member of the equestrian team at Texas A&M...majoring in biology...future plans include working in the physical therapy field...named to the Dean's List...hobbies include rock climbing, mountain biking, backpacking and being outdoors...completed Operation Air Force at Randolph AFB, Texas, over the summer...also served as an Element Leader during the second session of Basic Cadet Training, took a mountain biking trip to Moab and Canyonlands in Utah, and backpacked at the National Monument in Colorado...member of Cadet Squadron 01.
