FRESHMAN YEAR | 2015-16: Competed in the high jump and pole vault during seven indoor meets, including the conference championships...registered a career-best high jump clearance of 6’6¾” to finish second at the Air Force Holiday Open...won that event at the Rocky Mountain Classic (6’2¾”)...recorded a personal-best pole vault height of 15’1” at the Air Force Team Challenge...competed in the heptathlon at the Air Force Invitational, tallying 4,384 points to finish fifth...registered personal-best marks in the 60-meter dash (7.60), 1000-meter run (2:58.21), long jump (20’2¼”) and shot put (30’2”) at that meet...clocked a career-best time of 9.85 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Air Force Collegiate Open...also competed consistently in the high jump and pole vault during the outdoor season...matched career-high of 6’6¾” to take second in the high jump at the Air Force Twilight Open...added an outdoor-best pole vault height of 14’8” at that meet...competed in the decathlon at the California Invitational, collecting 5,600 points (14th)...posted top-five finishes in the high jump (second, 6’4¾”), 1500-meter run (fourth, career-best 4:43.07) and pole vault (14’3¼”) at that meet...also tallied personal-best marks in the 100-meter dash (12.00), 400-meter dash (55.53), long jump (19’9”) and shot put (29’4½”)...recorded a career-best distance of 117’2” in the javelin throw at the Aztec Open...accounted for career-best marks in the 110-meter hurdles (17.83) and discus throw (86’3”) at the Colorado Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL: Wapakoneta Senior High School...earned first-team all-conference honors in back-to-back years...finished second in the pole vault and high jump at the conference championships...regional and state qualifier in the pole vault...regional qualifier in the high jump...also played soccer and basketball...earned all-conference, all-district and all-state honors in soccer...earned academic all-conference honors for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher while playing a sport...received an honors diploma...named to the all-academic team...received the scholar-athlete award.

PERSONAL: Full name is Samuel Ray Hinegardner...goes by Sam...son of Ernest and Suzanne Hinegardner...has a twin brother, Will, who is a high jumper at St. Louis University...also has three half-sisters...currently undeclared on a major, but looking at aeronautical engineering...future plans including becoming a pilot...traveled home, hung out with friends and went to Cedar Point over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 35.
