The track and field team accounted for 41 of Air Force's 69 academic all-conference selections.


SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2014-15: Set a new Academy record in the mile...clocked a career-best time of 4:01.37 to finish second at the Tyson Invitational...that time is also a new Sophomore Class Record...named the Air Force Athlete of the Week following that meet...also earned the team’s Track Athlete of the Week award...scored for the Falcons in that event at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, finishing seventh (4:07.37, adjusted for altitude)...finished the season ranked within the nation’s top 55 for the mile...also led the team in the 800-meter run...recorded a season-best time of 1:53.12a to place second at the Air Force Invitational...debuted in ninth on the Academy’s all-time list in the 1500-meter run during the outdoor season...clocked a career-best time of 3:45.35 at the Bryan Clay Invitational...qualified to the NCAA Championships (West Preliminary) in that event...finished 20th in the West finals with a time of 3:47.73...scored for Air Force at the MW Outdoor Championships (sixth, 3:54.66)...won that event at the Air Force Twilight Open (3:47.78a)...competed in the 800-meter run three times...posted a season-best time of 1:52.26a at the New Mexico Quadrangular...ran on the distance medley relays that impacted the Academy’s all-time standings during both the indoor and outdoor seasons...anchored the DMR that clocked the sixth-fastest time in Academy history (9:45.12a) during a runner-up performance at the MW Indoor Championships...earned all-conference honors as a member of that relay...ran the lead-off leg of the DMR that clocked the third-fastest outdoor time in Academy history (9:43.44) to finish third at the Drake Relays...academic all-conference selection.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2013-14: Set two Freshman Class Records...impacted the Academy’s top-10 standings in three events...qualified to the NCAA Outdoor Championships (West Preliminary) in the 1500-meter run...ran the third leg of the distance medley relay team that clocked an outdoor Academy-record time of 9:40.12 at the Penn Relays...clocked a freshman-record time of 3:45.74 in the 1500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational...competed in that event during five meets...ran the 800-meter run once outdoors, finishing in 1:52.15 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational...scored for the Falcons in the mile during the Mountain West Indoor Championships by placing fifth with a time of 4:11.73 (adjusted for altitude)...set a Freshman Class Record in that event (career-best 4:08.10a) at the New Mexico Invitational...won the mile at the Air Force All-Comers Meet...debuted in 10th on the program’s all-time list in the 800-meter run after posting a personal-best time of 1:51.32a at the Air Force Invitational...ran on the DMR squad that clocked the Academy’s fifth-fastest indoor time (9:43.39) at the Iowa State Classic...competed in the 1000-meter twice, posting a career-best time of 2:27.83 to take second at the Holiday Inn Invitational...won that event during collegiate debut at the Air Force Holiday Open...earned the team’s Newcomer of the Week award on four occasions...named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team...academic all-conference selection.

MAJOR CROSS COUNTRY HIGHLIGHTS: Earned second-team all-conference honors after finishing 13th at the 2015 Mountain West Championships...helped Air Force to its first team title in 12 years.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lawrence Central High School...four-time New Balance Outdoor Nationals All-American...member of the 2012 national championship team in the 4xmile...state champion in the 800-meter run...also placed second in the 1600-meter run and mile at the state championship meets...won the 800-meter run at the Midwest Meet of Champions...clocked a season-best 800-meter time of 1:50.53 at the American Milers Club High Performance meet...that time was ranked 11th among the nation's high school seniors...finished seventh at the Indiana State Cross Country Championships...earned the Indiana High School Activity Association's Robert S. Hinshaw Mental Attitude Award...three-time member of the CYO City Basketball Championship team...prom king...graduated with a cumulative GPA of 4.2...received an A+ in film literature class.

PERSONAL: Full name is Matthew Scott Dorsey...nickname is “The Mayor”...son of Mark and Melissa Dorsey...has two younger siblings, Madison and Maria...majoring in biology...future plans include becoming a cardiologist and/or flight surgeon, then President of the United States...also plans on being the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs one day...served on the leadership team for the Cadet Wing Shoe Drive...named to the Dean’s List...hobbies include dunking on former roommate Taylor Smith, picking Butler Basketball to win March Madness every year, watching “Friends” on Netflix, winning egg tossing competitions, frolicking through the woods with Kyle Eller and putting fried eggs on burgers...raced the Monumental Mile and the American Milers Club over the summer...also completed Operation Air Force at Keesler AFB, Miss., (“my room was 800 meters from the beach”) and served as MOUT cadre (“I shot approximately 500 rounds of Simunition at students while they completed an urban operation scenario”)...member of Cadet Squadron 20.
