JUNIOR YEAR | 2015-16: Impacted the Academy record book in five events...became the first runner in program history to claim all-conference honors in the 10,000-meter run...NCAA qualifier in that event...clocked the second-fastest 10K in Academy history (34:12.05) at the Stanford Invitational...that time is also a new Junior Class Record by 11 seconds...earned all-conference honors by finishing third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (37:46.15)...moved into third on the program’s all-time standings for the 5000-meter run during both the outdoor and indoor seasons...posted a career-best outdoor time of 16:40.72 to finish sixth at the conference meet...debuted on the Academy’s indoor standings following a 16:58.92 performance at the Husky Classic...competed in the 3000-meter run just once... clocked a career-best 9:51.26 (adjusted for altitude) to move into seventh on the program’s all-time list at the MW Indoor Championships...also anchored the 4x1600-meter relay that clocked an Academy-record time of 19:53.61 at the Drake Relays...earned the team’s Most Improved award.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2014-15: Debuted on the Academy’s all-time list in both the 10,000- and 5000-meter events during the outdoor season...clocked the program’s fifth-fastest 10K (36:13.29) at the Mt. SAC Relays...that time is a new Sophomore Class Record...posted the ninth-fastest 5000-meter time (17:19.39) at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival...finished second in that distance at the Aztec Invitational (17:33.10)...won the 3000-meter run at the Air Force Twilight Open, clocking a time of 10:21.41 (adjusted for altitude)...also competed in that distance three times during the indoor season...clocked a season-best time of 10:39.05a during a runner-up performance at the Air Force Collegiate Open...ran the mile at the Adams State Qualifier, clocking a time of 5:26.10a (converted for track size).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2013-14: Competed in the 3000-meter run during five meets...recorded a personal-best time of 10:32.09 (adjusted for altitude) at the New Mexico Invitational...won that event in collegiate debut at the Air Force Holiday Open (10:34.78a)...also ran that distance once outdoors, winning the Baldy Castillo Classic in 10:08.66...earned the team’s Newcomer of the Week award following that meet.. competed in the 5000-meter run during four meets...recorded career-best times at the indoor (18:20.89a) and outdoor (17:43.46a) Mountain West Championship meets...collected a pair of third-place finishes at the Jack Christiansen Invitational and Ward Haylett Invitational...ran the mile once indoors, finishing fourth at the Air Force Team Challenge in 5:18.32a...competed in the 1500-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays (4:57.15).
MAJOR CROSS COUNTRY HIGHLIGHTS: Helped Air Force to program-best finishes at the Mountain West Championship (second) and NCAA Mountain Regional (third) in 2016...also helped the Falcons to the Academy’s first appearance at the NCAA Division I Championships and the first USTFCCCA ranking in school history...earned all-conference and all-region honors as a senior...claimed first-team status after finishing fifth at the conference meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Landmark Christian High School...USATF All-American in cross country...2009 cross country state champion...school record-holder in cross country (5K)...four-time state champion in the 3200-meter run (2009-11-12-13)...also holds the Georgia state and school record in that event...named the Atlanta Track Club's Cross Country Woman of the Year for four straight years (2009-12)...member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club...graduated within the top 10-percent of class.
PERSONAL: Full name is Lindy Autumn Long...nicknames are “Long-Legs” and “Linds”...daughter of Dr. James and Lisa Long...has five older siblings, who have all attended a service academy...oldest brothers, Jim (pole vault) and Sam (baseball), both attended Navy and graduated in 2010 and 2011, respectively...brothers Charlie (Class of 2012) and John (Class of 2013) are graduates of Army...older sister, Lainie, is a 2015 Air Force graduate and former member of the Falcons’ diving team...majoring in humanities...earning a minor in Spanish...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as Public Affairs Officer...named to the Athletic Director’s List...hobbies include exploring Colorado trails...plays the harp...worked Falcon Sports Camps, completed Powered Flight and took an academic class over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 18.
