    FRESHMAN (2011): Shared the team's Newcomer of the Year award...all-conference honoree in the javelin throw...set Freshman Class Record in that event with a 213'5" in a winning effort at the Oregon Preview...also won the javelin at the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational (190'6")...finished third at the Mountain West Conference Championships (206'9")...qualified for the national semifinals...threw a 184'1" to finish 41st at the NCAA West meet...earned the team's Newcomer of the Week award after setting the Class Record at Oregon...USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honoree...academic all-conference selection.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Camas High School...placed fourth in the javelin throw at the Washington 3A State Championships...also finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles at that meet with a personal-best time of 14.92... Camas High School record-holder in the 110-meter hurdles...served as captain of the track team as a senior...graduated within the top 10-percent of class.

    PERSONAL: Full name is Michael Thomas Lauritzen...goes by Mikey...son of Steve and Teri Lauritzen...father served in the Army...has two older brothers, Eric and Tyler...also has one younger brother, Nathan...majoring in biology...future plans include becoming a physical therapist...served as squadron/track and field Personal Ethics and Education Representative (PEER)......named Outstanding Freshman of the Fall Semester in 2010...earned the highest Knowledge Test average in the wing during 2010-11...hobbies include basketball, football, baseball, tennis, not being injured, working out, running, going to Boulder, Colo., spending time with friends, meeting new people and playing video games...spent the summer completing Global Engagement, Jump (Airmanship 490) and Combat Survival Training...also went home and spent a week at a fraternity house at the University of Washington...has published a children's book...member of Cadet Squadron 38.
