2Lt Olivia Korte becomes the third graduate in as many years to return to the Academy as a volunteer coach under the Air Force World Class Athlete Program. In her first season on the coaching staff, Korte will work primarily with the Falcons' throwers. Korte joined WCAP immediately following graduation from the Air Force Academy in 2007, where she earned a bachelor's of science degree in management. As a WCAP athlete, she will be able to train for the 2008 Olympic Games, while working with the Falcons' throwing team. The 2007 Mountain West Conference champion in the discus, Korte continually rewrote the Academy's record books throughout her four-year career. During the indoor season of her senior year, Korte set a new program standard in the shot put (47'6½"), as she earned all-conference accolades at the MWC Championships. During the outdoor season, Korte has won the discus at the Oregon Invitational, while earning NCAA Regional Qualifying Marks in the shot put and discus throw. In addition, she picked up two event titles at the first-ever Military Classic to help guide the women's team to a second-place finish. By setting the Senior Class record in the discus, Korte became the first Air Force athlete - male or female - to hold all four Class Records in two different events, as she also holds the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior Class records in the weight throw. During her junior year, she became just the second Academy female to earn NCAA All-America status. Korte earned all-conference accolades on six different occasions, as well as Mountain West Conference Athlete of the Week honors twice. She also added a MWC Championship meet record to her resume, as she broke the conference's six-year-old record in the discus throw. A two-time Outstanding Competitor for the women's track team and 2007 MVP, the native of Seneca, Kan., currently holds three Academy records, including the weight throw, discus throw and indoor shot put. |
