FRESHMAN YEAR | 2016-17: Member of the 4x400-meter relay team that captured the first outdoor all-conference relay award in Academy history...led off the quartet that clocked the third-fastest time in program history (3:44.10) during a third-place performance at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships...also recorded the eighth-fastest 400-meter dash in Academy history at that meet, clocking a career-best 56.17 to finish seventh...first debuted on the program’s all-time standing during the conference preliminary heat (56.67)...anchored the 4x100-meter relay that posted the fourth-fastest time in Academy history at the Air Force Twilight Open (47.71)...member of the scoring relay at the conference meet (48.24, seventh)...competed in the 200-meter dash during three meets, recording a personal-best 26.38 at the Baldy Castillo Classic...also ran on two relays that impacted the Academy record book during the indoor season...led off the 4x400-meter relay that clocked the sixth-fastest time in program history (3:52.99) at the MW Indoor Championships...also ran on the distance medley relay that accounted for the Academy’s eighth-fastest time at that meet (12:05.02, adjusted for altitude)...competed in the 400-meter dash during four indoor meets...recorded a personal-best time of 58.41 at the Air Force Collegiate Open...made collegiate debut with a time of 41.45 in the 300-meter dash at the Air Force Holiday Open.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kelsey Jordan Owens...nickname is “Kels”...daughter of Darren and Jamie Owens...has one older sister and one younger brother...majoring in management...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as Chief Clerk for squadron...named to the Commandant’s List and Athletic Director’s List...attended the Academy’s Prep School...held several leadership positions, including squadron academic officer, flight commander and squadron commander...recorded the highest GPA in squadron, earning a T-53 flight with the Dean...hobbies include hiking, watching movies and going on road trips...uncle, Kirk Juneau, and grandfather, Leon Owens, both served in the Navy and retired as a Petty Officer, First Class...has three uncles that played professional sports – Ted Owens played baseball for the Seattle Pilots, Marv Owens played football for the St. Louis Cardinals and Brig Owens is a member of the Washington Redskins’ Ring of Honor and NFL Players Association Hall of Fame...completed Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET) over the summer...also took a Cyber class and participated in the Academy’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) program...member of Cadet Squadron 24.
