JUNIOR YEAR | 2012-13: Reset own Academy record in the indoor triple jump for the second straight year...recorded a career-best distance of 41'5" during a third-place finish at the Mountain West Indoor Championships...all-conference honoree...NCAA Qualifier...cleared the 40-foot mark in every indoor appearance...won the triple jump at the Air Force Holiday Open (40'6¾"), Air Force Invitational (40'4¼") and Air Force Team Challenge (40'7½")...also competed in the long jump during three meets, recording a career-best mark of 17'6¾" at the Air Force Invitational...set the program's Junior Class Record in the triple jump during the outdoor season, posting a season-best distance of 41'5¼" at the NCAA West Preliminary...finished 17th at that meet...finished fifth in the triple jump at the MW Outdoor Championships (41'2¼")...won the outdoor title at the Mt. SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2011-12: Set Academy records in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump...two-time all-conference selection...NCAA Qualifier...recorded a career-best distance of 42'3½" to break own Academy record during the outdoor season...posted that distance during winning performance at the Mt. SAC Relays...became the first Air Force female to clear the 40-foot mark in the indoor triple jump at the Mountain West Indoor Championships...finished second at that meet with an Academy-record distance of 41'4¼"...also finished second at the MW Outdoor Championships with a distance of 41'7¼"...won the triple jump at the Air Force Relays (40'1½") during the outdoor season...also finished second at the Arizona State Invitational (40'0") and fourth at the Texas Relays (40'6¾")...competed in the high jump at three meets, recording a career-best clearance of 5'3" at the Front Range Classic...also ran the 200-meter dash (25.86) at that meet...ran in both scoring relays at the outdoor conference championships...also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay that won the Colorado Invitational (3:58.96)...won the triple jump during the indoor season at the Robert Shine Invitational (37'7¼") and at the Air Force All-Comers Meet (39'8½")...competed in the 400-meter dash at the Air Force Invitational (1:00.18)...also competed in four relays during the indoor season.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2010-11: Received the team's Newcomer of the Year award...set Academy record in the outdoor triple jump...recorded a distance of 40'8¾" to break the program's 26-year-old record and finish first at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational...that mark is also a Freshman Class Record...set a new Meet Record of 39'8¾" to win the Front Range Classic...also won the triple jump at the Jack Christiansen Invitational and was the top collegiate finisher in that event at the Colorado Invitational...collected four additional top-five finishes...finished 24th in the triple jump at the NCAA West Preliminary...recorded that second-best distance of career (40'0¾") at that meet to improve regional placement by 24 spots (entered the meet ranked 48th)...recorded the fifth-best indoor triple jump distance in Academy history during collegiate debut...jumped 37'9½" to finish third at the Air Force All-Comers Meet...was the runner-up at the Don Barrett Duals and finished third at the Nebraska adidas Invitational...competed in the long jump (15'6¼", adidas Invitational) and 60-meter hurdles once during the indoor season...also ran a leg of 4x440-yard relay at the All-Comers Meet...earned the team's Field Athlete of the Week award after setting the Academy record...also earned the program's Newcomer of the Week honor twice.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kassie Marque' Gurnell...daughter of Morris and Kathy Gurnell...has one older brother, Braylon, who is 2012 Academy graduate and two-year letterwinner on the Falcons' football team...also has one younger brother, Rion...majoring in operations research...would like to join the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) following graduation...future plans include working in the diversity program or becoming a cyber officer...served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (Community Service Rep), Group 4 PEER, Element Leader, Athletic NCO and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Clerk...hobbies include singing...loves entertainment and being a part of it...has several family members that serve in the military...served as a counselor during Falcon Sports Camps over the summer...also served as Basic Cadet Training Cadre and traveled home during leave...met Christian Taylor, the 2012 Olympic champion in the triple jump, at the Drake Relays during junior year...favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 31:30...member of Cadet Squadron 36.
