FRESHMAN YEAR | 2012-13: Finished second in the javelin throw at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships...all-conference selection...recorded a Freshman Class Record of 215'10" during runner-up performance at the conference meet...that mark was ranked seventh on the program's all-time list...ranked third in the nation among football players that also compete in track and field with that throw...also finished second at the Jack Christiansen Invitational (197'7") and Air Force Triangular (201'3")...recorded a distance of 210'9" to finish 22nd at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships...received "Standout" distinction from the team following debut the Air Force Relays (194'10" to finish third).
HIGH SCHOOL: Louisburg High School...four-year letterwinner in track and field...two-time state champion in the javelin throw...also qualified for the state championships in the 110-meter hurdles...member of the squad that won the state title in 2011...also lettered four years in football and basketball...earned all-league honors for football all four years...claimed honors as running back, linebacker and as a special teams player...two-time all-state selection...received the state's Top 11 award as a senior...helped team to a 4A state title in 2010...three-time all-league selection in basketball...member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Son of Gary and Lori Griffin...has one older sister...majoring in management...future plans include working in the acquisitions or contracting fields...served as B1 Element NCO and Athletic Clerk...member of the Air Force football team...hobbies include anything sports related, interpretive dance, playing the harp and parkour...completed Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET) over the summer...also took two academic classes (chemistry, calculus)...member of Cadet Squadron 26.
